Construction Inspector

STV is seeking Construction Inspectors to join our Transportation Division in Virginia Beach, VA. These positions offer an exciting opportunity to support our growing Construction Management and CEI practice, helping to expand our services and enhance client relationships across the state. Responsibilities Apply safety philosophy to all job responsibilities and work safely in an outside environment. Monitor contractor compliance with plans and specifications. Establish engineering controls for the construction contractor and inspect the work. Prepare daily inspection reports. Perform on‑site material testing and sampling, along with measurement and documentation of completed work. Read and interpret construction plans and technical specifications; communicate effectively with project staff and clients, both verbally and in writing. Travel daily to project sites; be prepared to work nights, weekends, and occasionally overnight if required. Use a computer and tablet (iPad) for data entry and reporting. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of construction inspection experience. Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record. Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, traverse rough terrain, and work outdoors in all weather. Certifications and Technical Requirements VDOT Certifications: Soil and Aggregate Compaction – NICET LEVEL II*; Asphalt Field Level I & II. Hydraulic Cement Concrete Field – ACI Concrete Field Level I, or WACEL Concrete I, or NICET LEVEL II*. Pavement Marking Slurry Surfacing. Surface Treatment Flagger Certification. GRIT (Guardrail) Certification. Certification for Erosion and Sediment Control Inspection – Virginia DEQ. Nuclear Gauge Safety Training – Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Stormwater Management (Inspector) Certification (Obtained prior to installation of stormwater items). Intermediate Work Zone Traffic Control – VDOT Approved Provider. 10 Hour OSHA Safety Training – OSHA.
