Job Title: Biomedical Equipment Technician II

Job Summary

This position is responsible for all service-related activities with OEM vendors, maintenance, repair, spare parts inventory, biomedical equipment, and physical plant repair & maintenance. Must work closely with and be responsive to All Stakeholders within the assigned area, IT, real estate and purchasing . Qualified candidates will have a strong technical background which may include an associate degree or military training in electronics, Mechanical or biomedical technology.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrates visibility and establishes productive relationships with vendors and Stake Holders.
• Actively participates in management meetings, continuous quality improvement, and other tasks as requested on the corporate level.
• Utilizes resources to improve skills, knowledge, and practice to assure continuous quality patient care and delivery of Eyecare Partners LLC service.
• Knowledgeable in CDC, OSHA, AAMI, Joint Commission, Network and Medicare standards.
• Acts as a resource to managers, facilities, and stakeholders.
• Demonstrates ability to train, teach and equip staff with necessary resources to function adequately and to the best potential outcome.
• Participates in staff education, staff meetings, and in-services as needed.
• Initial point of contact for all service-related equipment and physical plant issues.
• Responsible for Inventory of Biomedical Equipment for upload into Eyecare Partners Asset Management database.
• Performs base level assessment and repair for all equipment/physical plant issues in an efficient and timely manner.
• When necessary, contacts the OEM/vendor and coordinates service/repair that minimizes equipment down time. Coordinates loaner units when necessary.
• Performs preventative maintenance or coordinates preventative maintenance with a 3rd party vendor as needed.
• Demonstrates Eyecare Partners mission and established goals in performance management
• Participates in on-going training from OEMs to ensure technical competency for repair of equipment and physical plant in house.
• Install, inspect, maintain, repair, and calibrate biomedical equipment and support systems to adhere to medical standard guidelines.
• Perform Life safety inspections in accordance with NFPA Standards.
• Perform basic physical plant repairs/preventative maintenance such as changing lights bulbs.
• Acts as mentor, role model and resource for Entry Level Biomedical Technicians by setting an example of appropriate behavior, work habits and attitudes towards patients, coworkers, and management.

Education:

• Associate's/Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Biomedical, Mechanical, or related field)

• High School Diploma/GED: Above education requirement may not be held if candidate represents the necessary industry experience.

• 5+ years' experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT or mechanical equipment

• Valid Driver's License issued in the employee's state of residence

• Motor Vehicle Record must be in compliance with company policy.

Experience Requirements

• 5+ Years in the Ophthalmology/Optometry setting and/or CBET Certification (Preferred).

• Minimum of (1) Diagnostic Certification within the Ophthalmology field.

• Previous medical office experience preferred; previous ophthalmic experience strongly preferred.

• Travel to other site locations may be necessary. Thus, those needing to travel for work must have access to dependable transportation, and driving record must meet company liability carrier standards

• Specialty knowledge of systems relating to job function
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and safely move large/bulky equipment.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
