The company plans to develop future habitats and systems for the Moon and Mars, dedicated space stations for government partners, and other crewed systems that will unlock the expanding long-term space economy.Vast is looking for a Test Technician, reporting to the Manager, Hardware Development to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.The Hardware Development team takes pride in crafting cutting-edge mechanisms, fluid systems, and electronics to test hardware critical to the Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) to support life onboard our artificial-gravity commercial space station. This is a crucial role, as it involves planning and executing testing of components that are absolutely critical to the safety of future astronauts and passengers.This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location.Shift:First Shift: 6am - 2:30pmSecond Shift: 2pm - 10:30pmResponsibilities:Fabricate, clean, and activate ground support equipment and test articles in partnership with engineering, with a focus on pressurized ground systemsOperate, troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and modify manufacturing and testing equipment, including pressurized systems from vacuum to 20,000 psig, pneumatic and hydraulic, oxygen systems, refrigerant systems, and data and control systemsSupport development, acceptance, qualification, and investigative test campaigns via build and operation of ground support and flight equipmentMaintain laboratory and workshop, including cleanliness, stocking of consumables, tool control, and supporting design and build infrastructure to support above activitiesRead and interpret technical drawings and work instructions in support of above activitiesMinimum Qualifications:2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing, test, operations, HVAC or other relevant roleHigh School Diploma or equivalency certificatePreferred Skills & Experience:Experience in the aerospace, power and gas, military, or other high-reliability manufacturing industryExperience in the HVAC or industrial gas industryExperience with precision cleaning and assembly of precision-cleaned systemsExperience working in a cleanroom environmentExperience building, modifying, troubleshooting, maintaining, and operating high pressure equipmentExperience building, modifying, troubleshooting, maintaining, and operating automation and control systems, including data acquisition systems, programmable logic controllers, etcExperience with hazardous systems - cryogenic, flammable, pyrophoric, hypergolic, or high voltageDemonstrated success in a role requiring quick thinking and problem solvingExperience with forklifts, cranes, aerial platforms, and other industrial equipmentExperience with JIRA project management software and ConfluenceExperience with relevant aerospace testing standards (SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-810G, GSFC-STD-7000B, etc.)Skilled in operation of machinery and hand toolsAble to work effectively in a team environmentComfortable working in a rapidly changing, ambiguous environment balancing multiple projects with flexibilityAdditional Requirements:Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestonesAbility to lift up to 25lbs unassistedPay Range: California$21.33 - $50 USDWe calibrate level and compensation to the selected candidate's experience and demonstrated capability.
