The primary purpose of this position is to provide professional clinical social work or marriage and family therapy services in support of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP). Responsibilities Designs, develops, coordinates, and implements the secondary prevention component of FAP. Responsible for case management activities occurring from initial referral and counseling, through case closure, or transfer. Provides professional advisory services and training to other health care professionals, installation personnel, and community agencies concerning secondary prevention programs; and serves as community liaison with military and civilian agencies. Risk and Clinical Assessment: Works independently as a licensed clinical provider and uses advanced concepts, principles, procedures, practices, professional knowledge and sound judgment executing the clinical component of the FAP IAW program requirements and accepted standards of professional conduct. Crisis Intervention. Independently performs crisis intervention services to ensure the safety of, and prevent further harm to, victims of family maltreatment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: GS-0185 In order to qualify, you must meet the SPECIALIZED experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, Social Work Series 0185 + IOR. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: DEGREE: Successfully completed a master's degree with a major in social work or fulfilled all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. NOTE: You must provide a copy of your transcripts with your application. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes; Applying a professional knowledge of clinical social work and family therapy practices, principles, and theories to carry full professional responsibility for cases involving a wide range of psychosocial, and environmental issues. Providing knowledge in the organization, management, and administration of child and family welfare services to participate in program planning and in the development and maintenance of public understanding and sound working relationships with local agencies and community agencies. Using knowledge of a wide array of problems and disorders of children and families, and the varied resources needed to treat them. Applying professional diagnostic skills to individuals and families. Evaluating and determining the best application of multiple complex helping systems, various professions, and organizations; how they affect child and family welfare; and the multiple uses of such systems, professions, and organizations to deliver services. Assessing, intervening, and providing therapeutic intervention. QUALIFICATIONS: GS-0101 In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, Social Science Series 0101. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Professional knowledge of clinical social work or marriage and family therapy practices, principles, and theories to carry full professional responsibility for cases involving a wide range of psychosocial, and environmental issues. Skill and ability to directly apply professional diagnostic skills to individuals and families. Ability to evaluate and determine best application of multiple complex helping systems, various professions, and organizations; how they affect child and family welfare; and the multiple uses of such systems, professions, and organizations to deliver services. Ability to assess, intervene, and provide therapeutic intervention. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education Conditions of Employment Continued: This is an interdisciplinary position and may be filled and classified to the series represented by the candidate that meets the qualifications of one of the listed series listed on the cover page. Social Worker: At a minimum, qualification requirements stipulated by the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for the 0185 occupational series must be met. Selective Placement Factors: Possess a current, unrestricted license to practice clinical social work independently in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S Virgin Islands. Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist: At a minimum, qualification requirements stipulated by the US Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for the 0101 occupational series must be met. Selective Placement Factors: Possess a current, unrestricted license to practice marriage and family therapy independently in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S Virgin Islands. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
