Senior Accountant

Overview:

A growing organization is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This position is responsible for managing the month-end close process, maintaining the general ledger, preparing financial statements, and performing account reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, experience with financial reporting, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, payroll accounting, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations, account analyses, and investigate variances to ensure the accuracy of financial results.
• Maintain supporting workpapers and documentation for all balance sheet accounts and journal entries.
• Prepare financial analyses and management reporting packages, including written explanations of key trends and variances.
• Review financial data, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to maintain data integrity.
• Support the preparation of tax-related schedules and information required for federal, state, and local reporting.
• Assist with quarterly and year-end payroll reconciliations and other recurring accounting processes.
• Partner with internal and external auditors by preparing audit schedules, responding to inquiries, and supporting annual audit activities.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, GAAP, and internal control procedures while identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency.
• Participate in special projects and other accounting initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including significant general ledger and month-end close responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial statement preparation, and account reconciliations.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems; Microsoft Dynamics experience is a plus.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
