Job Summary and QualificationsThe Critical Care Director is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care by overseeing the daily operations and staffing of the unit or department. This role involves monitoring and assessing nursing care delivery in line with established policies and holding staff accountable for quality and clinical outcomes that align with facility goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a strong clinical identity by implementing evidence-based practices to improve patient safety and quality outcomes while ensuring compliance with care standards.
- Exhibit knowledge of human growth and development, assessment techniques, treatment options, and care for patients across various age groups.
- Oversee staffing needs and personnel management, including the recruitment, hiring, and training of new team members.
- Supervise patient care within the unit, providing ongoing support and expertise to staff.
- Perform duties in accordance with unit-specific care standards, validated by a competency skills checklist.
- Ensure optimal workflow within the unit by maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
- Coordinate all unit activities, including safety protocols, unit objectives, and departmental operations.
- Address patient, visitor, or physician complaints promptly and professionally.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to department staff.
- Collaborate with other disciplines and departments to enhance patient care delivery.
Qualifications Required:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program is mandatory.
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required; a Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Tennessee or a compact state is essential.
- 1-3 years of relevant clinical leadership experience is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is necessary.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within one year of hire.
