Respiratory Therapist II, FT Nights (NICU)

Work Shift: Night (United States of America) Overview The Respiratory Therapist II is responsible for medication administration and implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge, experience, and the evaluate‑and‑treat process. The RT II delivers patient care in complex, multi‑problem situations, spending most of the time in critical care areas with protocol ventilator management, significant independent decision‑making, and self‑direction. The RT II also provides patient, family/support system education, coordinates activities, develops staff, and engages in professional development. The RT II addresses biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and education needs of patients and families and participates in the education of new employees and others. Responsibilities Provide customer service through completion of patient care, documentation, and education. Promote a team spirit and positive work environment; support students and staff. Administer quality patient care, perform assessments and therapy assessments. Collaborate with health‑care team members to plan patient care. Verify orders and administer aerosolized medication, bronchial hygiene, volume expansion, oxygen & medical gas therapy. Perform ventilator management, weaning, waveform graphic interpretation, and airway management (intubation, extubation, trach tube change and care). Conduct arterial blood gas sampling & analysis. Educate patients and mentor/precept new employees, students, and peers. Assist in invasive and non‑invasive procedures, cardiac service procedures, and pulmonary diagnostic testing. Promote accurate electronic orders, charting, and charging. Maintain a high level of patient safety (medication safety, NPSG, etc.). Support performance improvement initiatives and evidence‑based practice reviews. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited respiratory therapy education program (CoARC or CAAHP) with a minimum of 20 quarter hours of science; Associate’s Degree (A.S.) required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Experience: 0–2 years of clinical experience, including at least 6 months in critical care. Skills: Effective communication, critical thinking, ability to build and maintain relationships with physicians and health‑care professionals, computer proficiency with database familiarity, and strong customer‑relation and assessment skills. Licenses and Certifications: Registered Respiratory Therapy; Respiratory Care Professional; Basic Life Support (BLS), BLS‑Instructor, BLS‑Provisional; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), ACLS‑Instructor, ACLS‑Provisional; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), PALS‑Instructor, PALS‑Provisional; Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), NRP‑Instructor, NRP‑Provisional. #J-18808-Ljbffr Wellstar Health Systems, Inc.
