Job Opportunity – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) RN – Texas

Start Date: November 30, 2026

Location: West Texas

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week with self-scheduling flexibility. Shifts may be worked consecutively or split throughout the week. Weekend rotation required on a variable basis. No on-call required.

Highlights:

• Work at a 181-bed Level II Pediatric Trauma Center specializing in pediatric critical care
• Patient ratios of 1:2 in a supportive, interdisciplinary team environment
• Utilize Epic EMR charting system with comprehensive training and orientation provided
• Flexibility with self-scheduling to balance professional and personal commitments
• May float to Pediatric Med/Surg and NICU units based on facility needs
• One-year contract; first-time travelers welcome

Requirements:

• Active RN license (Compact license accepted and must be in hand at time of submission)
• Minimum 1 year of PICU nursing experience required
• Current BLS and PALS certifications
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with 1:2 patient ratios preferred
• Proficiency in critical pediatric skills including ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, IV vasopressors, BiPAP/CPAP management, central line care, continuous sedation, chest tube management, and management of dysrhythmias
• Competency with pediatric patient populations including neonates, infants, children, and adolescents
• Two professional references covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years
• Commitment to work 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
