Birthing Center Registered Nurse

General Job Duties

As an RN in our Birthing Center, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to mothers and newborns. Our facility includes:

• 1 triage room
• 3 LDRP rooms
• 2 flex rooms

Equipment Utilized

We utilize advanced technology to ensure the highest quality of care, including:

• EPIC for computerized documentation
• OBIX for archiving EFM strips

Required Skills and Experience

We are looking for candidates with the following experience:

• Prior experience in labor, delivery, postpartum, and nursery/newborn care
• Experience with basic medical/surgical patients

Licensures and Certifications

The following certifications are required:

• NRP and BLS certified

Preferred certifications include:

• STABLE and ALSO certifications
• Basic Electronic Fetal Monitoring course completion (Intermediate preferred)
• Knowledge and training with the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI)

Shift and Schedule Requirements

Our shifts are designed to provide flexibility and work-life balance. You will be required to work:

• Every 3rd weekend
• Every other holiday during the assignment
• Rotating 8 and 12-hour shifts, primarily evenings and nights with the possibility of an occasional day

Patient Load and Support Staff

The number of patients per day varies, with approximately 250 deliveries per year. Each shift is staffed with:

• 2 RNs or 2 RNs and 1 CNA

While on assignment, you will always have an RN in-house and immediately available for support.

Nurse to Patient Ratio

We maintain a one-on-one nurse-to-patient ratio during active labor, oxytocin infusion, epidural infusion, and initiation of magnesium infusion.

Dress Code

We provide hospital-supplied and laundered scrubs to ensure a professional and hygienic environment.

Training and Orientation

We offer a comprehensive 1-week orientation to familiarize you with our organization and department, ensuring you feel confident and prepared in your new role.
