Grocery Operations Support

Provides support to the grocery operations which include; produce, kitchen, deli and meat. Provides friendly, attentive and prompt customer service while working in a variety of departments.

Compensation: $21.48/hour (non-exempt).

This is a Union position with 1 opening.

Reporting Relationship: Reports to: Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, and Store Supervisor

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

1. Produce: receives, prepares and stocks in the produce area.
2. Kitchen: Assists in preparing grab and go food items and pastries.
3. Meat: Assists with wrapping meat, fish, poultry and properly labels products.
4. Conducts regular inspections of produce, meat and prepared foods to ensure quality assurance of products.
5. Receives and inspects all produce that arrives at the grocery store and inspects for quality and weight.
6. Inspects refrigerators and produce section to ensure that products are stored properly.
7. Ensures a clean, neat and organized work area.
8. Participates in the ordering of meats and produce.
9. Safely handles all equipment used in the butcher area.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualification/Requirements:

• One year of experience in a grocery store, preferred.
• Requires knowledge of different kinds of meat, fish, poultry, and produce.
• Basic knowledge of food safety practices for preparing and serving food.
• Requires relating to people in a friendly and professional manner.
• Requires working to the established procedures and maintaining reliable work attendance.
• Able to think and make effective decisions quickly.
• Ability to create effective working relationships with people.
• Must be able to maintain a positive attitude and work under pressure.

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and hear.
• The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, and color vision.
• Must be able to physically lift heavy materials/tools.
