Job Description
Shift: 06:00am-02:00pm, Monday - Friday
No Holidays, No on call, or Weekends.

Description:
Perform a full range of physician services in accordance with granted privileges.
Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other healthcare professionals within the scope of clinical privileges or responsibilities.
Examine, diagnose, treat, or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.
Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
Order diagnostic tests as applicable and request consultations or referrals with appropriate specialists as indicated.
Technically proficient in directing and teaching other medical staff, providing educational lectures, and participating in in-service training.
Provide a full range of Internal Medicine services, including examination, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of adults, typically 18 years of age or older.
Participate in the Graduate Medical Education program by precepting interns and residents and reviewing and co-signing notes.
Independently formulate full treatment plans based on sound evaluation and diagnoses consistent with current clinical practice guidelines.
Examine, diagnose, and treat illnesses and diseases related to internal medicine of patients.
Provide a variety of professional medical services to authorized beneficiaries and manage both common and complex illnesses.
Apply new procedures in the evaluation and treatment of complex patient cases and perform emergency services or crisis intervention when necessary.
Conduct thorough evaluations of presenting patients utilizing laboratory and clinical findings.
Act as a primary care manager incorporating an understanding of disease prevention, wellness, and common health problems.
Provide comprehensive primary care for adults according to current standards and relevant regulations.
Collaborate with specialists on complex problems and render urgent treatment as required.
Exercise independent judgment and make authoritative decisions on treatment procedures and referrals.
Thoroughly examine patients, study case histories, and request laboratory tests and x-rays as necessary.
Administer or prescribe medications, including narcotics, as needed.
Request return visits for progress checks or additional examinations as required.
Serve as a specialist in General Internal Medicine, providing consultation services to other clinic personnel.
Complete required records pertaining to all medical services in accordance with specified procedures and regulations.
Safeguard all reports and records according to privacy standards.
Maintain credentials in compliance with professional standards and requirements.
Perform administrative duties inherent to clinical activities.
Ensure the highest standards of professional practice and ethics are maintained.
Participate in continuing medical education and attend clinical and administrative staff meetings.

Requirements:

Education:
Degree in either Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.)
Graduation from a medical school in the United States, Canada, or approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association (AMA), graduation from a college of osteopathy approved by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or graduation from a medical school with evidence of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification.
Completion of an accredited residency approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

General Knowledge:
Must be able to pass a Government background check and obtain a Government security clearance.
As required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the credentialing instructions.

Certifications:
The DoD only recognizes certifications issued by boards that are members of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or the AOA Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists.

Licensure:
Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of California.
