Job Title: Entry-Level Mechanical Maintenance Technician Job Description

This entry-level role focuses on maintaining and improving the performance of industrial machinery in a clean, well-lit steel production environment. You will use your mechanical aptitude and basic tools knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues, perform preventative maintenance, and support continuous process improvements to keep operations running efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities

• Utilize process improvement techniques, tools, and procedures to enhance equipment performance and production efficiency.

• Maximize the performance of machinery by identifying issues, troubleshooting equipment problems, and implementing effective solutions.

• Read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals to understand machine components, functions, and maintenance requirements.

• Perform preventative maintenance tasks according to established programs to maintain equipment and prevent failures.

• Use hand tools and hand and power tools safely and effectively for maintenance and repair activities.

• Support maintenance and repair activities on stamping and related industrial equipment as needed.

• Record, document, and report maintenance activities, equipment issues, and repairs in an accurate and timely manner.

• Follow safety procedures and guidelines while working with machinery, tools, and industrial equipment.

• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to prioritize tasks and minimize machine downtime.

• Lift and move equipment or parts up to 50 pounds as part of regular maintenance tasks.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, with the ability to understand how mechanical systems and machinery operate.

• Ability to use hand tools and hand and power tools safely and effectively.

• Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve mechanical and equipment issues.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.

• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of regular job duties.

• High school diploma or GED.

• Willingness to work in an industrial environment with stamping and steel-related equipment.

• Availability to work either 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.) or 3rd shift (Monday–Friday, 10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical school education or training in a mechanical or industrial field is preferred.

• Experience with preventative maintenance programs in an industrial or manufacturing setting is a plus.

• Familiarity with stamping equipment or steel plant operations is beneficial.

• Strong attention to detail when documenting maintenance activities and equipment issues.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a small, collaborative maintenance team.

• Interest in learning and applying process improvement techniques and tools.

Work Environment

The role is based in a clean, well-lit industrial steel plant environment. You will work around stamping and other industrial machinery, using hand tools and hand and power tools to perform maintenance and repairs. The facility operates multiple shifts, with positions available on 2nd shift (Monday–Friday, 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m.) and 3rd shift (Monday–Friday, 10:00 p.m.–6:30 a.m.). The work involves standing, moving around machinery, and lifting up to 50 pounds while following safety procedures and guidelines appropriate for an industrial setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Winder, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
