Job Opportunity
This position involves working as a Registered Nurse in a dynamic healthcare environment. The candidate will float between various medical and surgical units.
Shift Details
- Shift Type: 12-hour shifts - Nights
- Shift Hours: 1845 to 0715
- Scheduled Hours: 36 hours per week following the first week of orientation
- No guarantee of hours
Licensing Requirements
All travelers must possess a valid State of Hawaii license by the start of the assignment. Candidates not currently licensed in Hawaii must apply upon acceptance of the offer. Please note that medical and religious exemption requests will not be accepted in lieu of documented proof of immunity.
General Job Duties
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing high-quality nursing care to patients in various medical and surgical units
- Utilizing Meditech EMR, Pyxis, wound vacs, and managing chest tubes
Required Experience and Skills
- Experience: 2-10 years in nursing
- Licenses/Certifications:
- BLS
- ACLS
- Preferred: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC
Department Details
The nurse will float to the following units:
- Medical Unit
- Laulima Unit (Surgical Acute)
- Cardiovascular Unit (on rare occasions)
Bed Size and Patient Ratios
- Medical Unit: 77 beds; Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:6 days/eves, 1:8 nights
- Laulima Unit: 18 beds; Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:6
- Cardiovascular Unit: 15 beds; Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:4
Dress Code
Professional nursing attire, including clean scrubs, is required.
Training and Orientation
An orientation program will be provided for each unit to ensure a smooth transition and training process.
Additional Information
Candidates must arrive by the Thursday before their start date to attend an employee health appointment on Friday. Please do not accept the start date if you cannot arrive on time.
