Position Overview

Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable and safety-focused CDL Class A Driver to deliver steel products throughout the local area using flatbed trucks. This position offers consistent daytime hours, local routes, and the benefit of being home every day . No tarping is required.

The ideal candidate has flatbed driving experience, understands proper load securement techniques, and is committed to safe, professional service.

Required Experience & Skills
• Valid CDL Class A driver's license required
• Manual transmission experience required (no automatic transmission restrictions)
• Clean MVR and DOT driving record
• Previous flatbed steel delivery experience preferred
• Experience securing loads using boomer chains and occasional straps
• Strong commitment to safety and DOT compliance
• Reliable attendance and punctuality
• Professional communication and customer service skills

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Safely transport steel materials to customer locations using a flatbed truck
• Secure loads using boomer chains and straps as required (no tarping required)
• Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
• Comply with all DOT regulations and company safety policies
• Maintain accurate delivery documentation, vehicle inspection reports, and driver logs
• Communicate professionally with dispatch, warehouse personnel, and customers
• Report vehicle maintenance concerns or delivery issues promptly
• Assist with additional transportation and warehouse duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience delivering steel or construction materials
• Flatbed hauling experience in commercial transportation
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and load securement best practices
• Forklift experience is a plus

Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
• Ability to secure loads using chains, binders, and straps
• Frequent climbing on and off trucks, bending, reaching, and walking throughout the workday
• Ability to safely perform outdoor work in varying weather conditions while wearing required PPE

Work Environment
• Local delivery routes with home daily schedule
• Day shift with no weekend work
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loading yards, warehouses, and customer job sites
