Description Position Title: Social Content Designer Reports To: Chief Communications Officer Status: Salaried, Non-Exempt Updated: September 23, 2026 Job Summary The Social Content Designer helps bring the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts brand to life through audience-focused designs for social platforms and various projects. Working from concept through execution, this role creates on-brand social media content, writes compelling captions, moderates social platform engagement, and stays current on platform trends. The Social Content Designer also develops audience-facing materials across digital and print formats. As a highly collaborative role, the Social Content Designer works with the Chief Communications Officer, Creative Director, Communications Director, Designer, and additional department members to steward AMFA’s brand presence. Key Responsibilities General Arrive on time and ready to work, as scheduled. Maintain an accurate record of time worked using web-based time and attendance system. Work occasional mandatory overtime, as necessary. Work in a professional and cooperative manner with other AMFA associates and employees. Maintain a professional, neat, clean, well-groomed appearance. Assist with other duties as assigned. Job Specific Social Media Content Planning, Design, & Management Design and produce platform-appropriate content, including graphics and other digital assets. Capable of basic videography and editing for social platforms. Write and edit captions in AMFA’s voice, adapting messaging for different platforms and audiences. Schedule content across all social platforms based on the social content calendar. Monitor platform trends to identify relevant opportunities for AMFA. Moderate community chats by responding to comments and messages, applying moderation guidelines, and escalating sensitive matters when appropriate. Review content performance and use audience insights to strengthen future creative work. Maintain monthly analytics report. Digital and Print Design Design audience-facing materials across digital and print formats while maintaining AMFA’s visual identity and brand standards. Adapt, organize, and resize creative assets for various platforms, placements, and audiences. Prepare accurate, production-ready files and coordinate revisions, approvals, and delivery. Collaborate with the Creative Director and Designer to ensure consistency and quality across projects. Additional Marketing, Communications, and Membership Support Qualifications Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 3-5 years of design experience Social media experience is required Must possess strong interpersonal skills Have the flexibility to balance a fast-paced work environment Maintain a collaborative mindset to reach project goals Stay patient through an iterative revision process and listen to feedback Familiar with Microsoft Word and Outlook Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Adobe Illustrator, and Canva Familiar with project management systems, such as Monday Portfolio of relevant work must be submitted Working Conditions And Physical Requirements Sitting: Ability to regularly sit for extended periods (up to five hours) while performing administrative duties, including planning, scheduling, and computer-based work. Standing: Ability to regularly stand for prolonged periods (up to five hours) during events, including setup, execution, and breakdown activities. Walking: Ability to regularly walk frequently throughout event spaces, offices, and outdoor venues, sometimes over uneven surfaces. Climbing Stairs: Ability to regularly ascend and descend stairs multiple times during the workday, as required by event venues and office locations. Lifting and Carrying: Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, and/or pull materials and supplies weighing up to approximately 25–30 pounds, occasionally more with assistance. Manual Dexterity: Ability to regularly use hands and fingers for handling materials, operating equipment, and using office tools. Computer Use: Ability to regularly use a computer, keyboard, mouse, and standard office software for design work, communication, and documentation. Communication: Ability to regularly communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with staff, vendors, clients, and the public in a variety of environments, including noisy event settings. Visual Acuity: Ability to see and read printed and digital materials. Hearing Acuity: Ability to hear and understand spoken communication in person and over the phone, including in environments with background noise. Mobility and Endurance: Ability to maintain physical stamina and mobility to meet the demands of event schedules, which may include evenings, weekends, and extended hours. Work is primarily performed inside the Museum, both in a working office and event spaces. Primary office space is an open, shared space that comes with occasional interruptions and interactions with team members and visitors. Occasionally, but temporarily, exposed to outside weather conditions; occasionally includes rain, snow, ice, sleet, and extreme hot or cold temperatures.
