Psychiatrist - MHBH Psychiatrist IP Float

MaineHealth

Job Description

Job Description

Our organization is actively seeking a psychiatrist to join a dynamic and flexible float pool model, providing inpatient care across various settings. This position involves delivering psychiatric care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, overseeing treatment plans, and coordinating pharmacological and therapeutic interventions.

The psychiatrist will be scheduled for 30 to 40 weeks each calendar year, with the specific amount determined by the individual. This role is crucial for maintaining high-quality patient care throughout our organization, as it offers coverage during staff vacations, leaves, or other instances requiring additional support. This is an excellent opportunity for psychiatrists looking to broaden their experience, as it allows for work in diverse facilities and psychiatric specialties. Furthermore, the position offers flexible scheduling while ensuring competitive compensation and benefits, as it is a permanent role within our organization (not a locum or per diem position). It effectively balances flexible hours, market-aligned pay, and comprehensive benefits.

We invite applications from psychiatrists interested in flexible scheduling and inpatient environments. This role is particularly suited for those eager to explore various disciplines and locations, gaining insights into what our organization and the State of Maine have to offer. We encourage recent graduates from residency and fellowship programs in relevant fields to apply.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an Allopathic or Osteopathic Medical School, with completion of an internship and psychiatric residency and/or fellowship training.

  • Possession of a current and valid physician license from the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine. Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or eligibility for examination, as evidenced by written documentation.

  • Board Certified or board eligible in general psychiatry.

  • Current DEA Registration Certificate.

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience, including residency and/or fellowship training.

  • Fulfillment of additional credentialing criteria as outlined in Medical Staff By-laws.

This position offers:

  • A competitive compensation package that includes a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance for qualified candidates, reimbursement for CME expenses, and malpractice insurance.

  • Comprehensive benefits such as Paid Time Off, CME time, retirement plans with employer contributions, medical, dental, vision, life/disability coverage, and more.

Additional Information:

Our organization is a not-for-profit integrated health system with a vision of "Working together so our communities are the healthiest in America." We comprise nine local health systems, a comprehensive behavioral health care network, diagnostic services, home health agencies, and a workforce of 1,700 employed clinicians collaborating through our Medical Group. With around 22,000 care team members, we provide preventive care, diagnosis, and treatment to approximately 1.1 million residents in Maine and New Hampshire.

Our behavioral health division is the leading integrated system in Northern New England, primarily serving southern, western, central, and Mid-Coast Maine. It includes the only nonprofit psychiatric hospital in southern Maine, eight multidisciplinary outpatient clinics, crisis services, stabilization units, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient treatment, along with four ACT teams. This fully integrated and expanding behavioral healthcare system serves as a regional and national model for addressing serious mental health challenges.

Compensation packages may include, based on eligibility, recruitment bonuses, relocation assistance, productivity incentives, and quality incentives.

The annual base salary for this role is set at $300,000.
