Mechanical Engineer - Manufacturing

Full-Time | On-site | Norfolk, NE The Mechanical Engineer prepares detailed working diagrams, models, and specifications for machinery and mechanical devices according to customer requirements. This on-site position in Lincoln, NE is responsible for designing components and equipment, creating CNC files and solid models, developing bills of materials, and supporting both sales and shop operations with accurate technical information. Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Reports to: General Manager Position type: Full-Time FLSA Status: Exempt (Salaried) Essential Functions Design and create drawings, CNC files, solid models, and sales drawings for Gentle Roll’s, Screw conveyors, Sheller’s, Sidewinders, and other custom parts and equipment for outside customers and in-house repair or construction orders. Create parts, assemblies/bills of materials, shop work orders and sales orders in accounting software, check status on inventory, shop work orders and sales orders. Design drive packages that calculate equipment capacities, rpm and horsepower for parts and equipment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent working knowledge of computer software including AutoCAD, VET, Excel and Word. Excellent communication skills – reading/writing/verbal English; the ability to explain to others how devices, parts, equipment or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained or used. Competent math skills, specifically geometry and unit conversion. Good decision‑making skills that take into consideration relative costs and benefits to answer questions, address complaints and resolve problems. Ability to actively listen, taking time to understand and ask questions. Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to accomplish specific goals. Perform other duties as assigned. Regularly spend time in an office environment, sitting at computer, creating and answering e‑mail and talking on the phone. Occasionally walks to shop or stands. Requires good motor skills, such as climbing and squatting, for checking equipment and parts dimensions. Important to maintain a high degree of accuracy and exceptional attention to detail. Requires independence and dependability to make sure projects get done, as well as cooperation with others inside and outside the department.
