RN Medicine Specialty – Float/Stepdown

Key Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients, delivering competent nursing care across a range of simple to complex health conditions.
• Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders.
• Obtains and monitors physiological data, observes patient manifestations, and intervenes when necessary.
• Administers medications as prescribed; initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
• Provides tracheostomy care and performs stepdown-level patient monitoring and interventions.
• Interacts with patients and families to communicate care plans, hospital procedures, and discharge instructions; delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, with required Stepdown (SD) and Medical/Surgical (MS) experience.
• Tracheostomy care experience required.
• Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
• Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health records system required.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ICU experience preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from a board-approved program.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to respond effectively to the cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
