Equipment Operator
The primary responsibility of the Equipment Operator is to stack mined rock in piles for contractor to load on haul trucks safely and efficiently fulfilling the assigned tasks given by the Quarry Superintendent. Assisting fellow operators when needed, performing visual quality inspections, performing general housekeeping of your assigned area daily, and reporting any and all issues to the Quarry Superintendent promptly. Position may also perform other tasks as required such as pumping rainwater from low lying areas, constructing roadways, building berms and assisting other employees as needed. Safety and awareness should always be part of the daily operation to ensure a safe workplace for all mine employees.
Starting Pay: $22.52 to $23.02 hourly
Full or Part Time: Full-time only
Reports to: Quarry Superintendent
Position Requirements:
- Able to work in a remote or centralized area.
- MUST be able to operate all types of mobile equipment such as Dozers, Haul trucks, Front End loaders, Excavators, Motor Grader, Wirtgen Mills and Water Trucks in a safe manner.
- Able to handle light to medium physical demands.
- Able to work independently.
- Able to spend majority of time seated.
- Able to perform basic math and understand slopes and grade angles.
- Able to read information and accurately fill in forms.
- Perform pre-shift inspection on all mobile equipment.
- Ability to learn and practice good housekeeping principles.
- Must know how to use a tape measure.
- Ability to work in a safe manner in all conditions and circumstances.
Safety:
- Operate equipment in a safe manner following all departmental safety rules and procedures.
- Participate in daily crew safety meetings.
- Understanding of how and where to properly lock-out all job-related equipment.
- Understanding of safe operation for all equipment.
- Understanding of mobile equipment pre-shift safety inspection.
- Wear appropriate PPE for the job conditions.
- Maintain housekeeping in all designated areas.
- Understanding of JSA's for the area.
Work Experience and Education Requirements:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
