Role Overview This role is to provide overarching occupational health and safety expertise to one of Apex’s most valued clients, a national aerospace manufacturer. The incumbent will serve as a Mid‑Senior Level Safety Specialist contractor to their Wichita, Kansas facility. The position is full‑time, onsite, 5 days a week, 8‑hour days, with some days covering shift roll‑over (9 am – 5 pm). It is originally slated for 6 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project needs. Your Responsibilities as a Sr Safety Specialist Provide comprehensive occupational safety consulting services to clients, including shop‑floor observations focused on identifying, assessing, and risk‑ranking employee exposures to injury or illness, and devising solution options aimed at mitigating injury or illness exposures. Coordinate and execute safety projects within set organizational procedures and standards, in collaboration with Apex client‑relationship managers. Implement and execute an agreed‑to service plan, monitor and report progress on plan completion as directed, and work with numerous internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired overall project velocity. Act as an advisor to the customer on occupational safety issues. Provide input to client‑relationship managers or business development staff on potential new EHS projects. What we are looking for Bachelor’s degree required—preferably in a science or engineering field. Minimum 6+ years of hands‑on experience required, working in the occupational safety field; industrial hygiene and ergonomic experience is a plus. Desirable (but not required) professional credentials: Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP); Associate Safety Professional (ASP); Certified Safety Professional (CSP); Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH). Experience in manufacturing & assembly industries/heavy industry settings is a plus; experience in aerospace and defense or automotive industry is a further plus. Possess knowledge of occupational safety and industrial hygiene technical subject matter and how to apply it in real‑life settings; familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the occupational safety and industrial hygiene fields.
