RN Ortho TraumaJob Summary and Responsibilities15% PRN differential applies, along with eligible shift differentials!Penrose Ortho Surg Unit:At Penrose Hospital, an established Magnet® hospital, the Orthopedic Surgical Unit has 24 rooms and 26 beds. Our specialty is ortho, trauma and neurosurgery. We care for elective orthopedic patients receiving knee, hip, and shoulder replacements as well as orthopedic trauma patients. We also see some neurosurgery cases that are mostly subdural bleeds and spinal surgeries. If surgical volume is low, we also see some medical patients. Our mission is to provide care with the Golden Rule as the guiding principle. The department would be a good fit for someone who enjoys a fun working environment but can also work hard. Our unit can be very busy from a standpoint of patient turnover, but many of us like the fast-paced environment.For those desiring to get some med-surg experience before going to a specialty unit like ICU or ED, this is a great place to receive good foundational nursing experience, especially with the trauma population that we serve. The culture is supportive without micromanagement and is overall fun. The team is welcoming and helpful, and the patient comments demonstrate the compassionate and friendly care provided by the team.We look for candidates that are friendly, flexible, caring and hard working.
