Shop Assistant/Janitorial Support (3403)# Shop Assistant/Janitorial Support (3403)Mount Laurel - Mount Laurel, NJ 08054## OverviewSalary Range$16.00 - $18.00 Hourly## Description**Job Summary**BLUSA Defense Manufacturing is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and safety-conscious **Shop Work Assistant / Janitorial Support** team member to help keep our manufacturing and machine shop operations running smoothly. This position will provide general support to machinists, operators, and production staff while also maintaining a clean, safe, and organized shop and facility.No prior machining experience is required. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, is willing to learn, follows instructions carefully, and takes pride in maintaining a clean and efficient work environment.**Key Responsibilities****Shop & Production Support*** Assist machinists, machine operators, and production personnel with daily shop and workflow needs.* Perform basic tasks involving manual and CNC machinery under appropriate supervision.* Assist with loading, unloading, moving, and organizing materials, parts, tooling, and supplies.* Prepare work areas and ensure necessary materials, tools, and supplies are available.* Restock shop supplies and maintain designated storage areas.* Keep tools, equipment, materials, and work areas organized and properly stored.* Assist with basic material handling and other general shop duties as assigned.* Follow work instructions and support production schedules and priorities.* Perform other manufacturing and shop support duties as assigned.**Janitorial & Facility Support*** Maintain clean, orderly, and safe shop, production, warehouse, and common areas.* Sweep and mop floors and remove dirt, dust, debris, and machining waste as appropriate.* Empty trash and recycling containers and maintain designated disposal areas.* Clean and maintain break rooms, restrooms, offices, and other common areas.* Replenish restroom, break room, and janitorial supplies as needed.* Clean and maintain shop areas, including work surfaces and other non-production equipment areas.* Help keep aisles, walkways, workstations, and emergency access areas clear of obstructions.* Report spills, unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, or facility maintenance concerns to the appropriate supervisor.* Follow proper procedures for handling cleaning materials and shop waste.* Support general facility upkeep and other janitorial duties as assigned.**Safety & Quality*** Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.* Maintain a clean and organized work environment to support safe and efficient operations.* Use tools, equipment, cleaning products, and material-handling equipment properly and safely.* Follow established procedures for handling materials, shop debris, and waste.* Report safety hazards, equipment concerns, and other issues promptly.* Support the company's commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.## Qualifications**Qualifications****Minimum Requirements*** High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.* Ability to work safely and responsibly in a manufacturing environment.* Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.* Strong attention to detail.* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.* Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.* Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform physical tasks for extended periods.* Ability to lift and carry up to **40–50 lbs.** as needed.**Preferred Qualifications — Not Required*** Previous experience in a manufacturing, machine shop, warehouse, maintenance, or janitorial environment.* Basic familiarity with hand tools or shop equipment.* Experience with general cleaning and facility maintenance.* Forklift certification or experience operating material-handling equipment.* Interest in machining, mechanical work, manufacturing, or developing a career in the skilled trades.**Work Environment*** Manufacturing and machine shop environment.* Regular exposure to machinery, noise, dust, metal chips, and general shop conditions.* Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).* Position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and moving materials.* Must be comfortable performing both shop-support and janitorial/cleaning duties.**What We’re Looking For**The ideal candidate is **dependable, motivated, safety-minded, and willing to learn**.
