Internship Opportunity

Newport Mental Health (NMH) is a progressive high-energy organization that uses state of the art person-centered recovery approach to help individuals recover from mental illness and substance use disorders. NMH extends its trauma informed evidence-based services to children, adolescents, families, and adults. Our services vary from outreach, specialized program, mental health, school-based therapy, substance use therapy, community-based therapy, and outpatient clinic.

We are currently seeking a motivated, caring, and empathetic intern to join our team. You will shadow several different prescribers who are responsible for assessment and treatment to clients.

This internship will allow you to learn about Newport Mental Health's person-centered approach to care and will allow the individual to shadow clinicians during their group and individual sessions; diagnostic assessments, including initial intakes and on-going assessments.

This role will allow the intern to see how to complete records utilizing a collaborative documentation approach, how to participate in crisis response services, and how to serve as a client advocate.

Other duties include performing all other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager, attending trainings and meetings as assigned, and adhering to safety policies including participation in fire/disaster drills.

Education and experience: Enrolled in a masters level program or higher at an accredited college or university.
