The Project Engineer plays a key role in delivering large-scale, mission-critical electrical projects, including data centers, by supporting engineering and technical activities from concept through completion. They plan, schedule, forecast, resource, and manage project execution to ensure quality, accuracy, and successful outcomes on complex, fast-paced construction projects. Through collaboration, innovation, and proactive problem-solving, they drive continuous improvement and contribute to the successful delivery of highly coordinated electrical systems.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Ingenuity

• Demonstrate craftsmanship and attention to detail by thoroughly analyzing and interpreting construction drawings to ensure a complete understanding of project scope.
• Assist in reviewing plans and specifications, developing detailed checklists that highlight contractual and technical items requiring ongoing attention—supporting integrity and accountability from the outset.
• Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to contribute to cost estimates and schedule development, applying ingenuity and analytical thinking to support well-coordinated, schedule-driven project planning.

Project Progress & Craftsmanship

• Prepare clear, accurate statements of work, submittals, and change management documentation, promoting transparent communication and trust across project stakeholders.
• Inspect equipment, materials, workmanship, and completed construction with a commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and quality, ensuring full compliance with project specifications.
• Maintain precise and organized project records to track progress, changes, and compliance—reinforcing integrity, accuracy, and reliability in large, document-heavy projects.

Safety Leadership

• Champion a safety-first culture, modeling behaviors that protect people, projects, and communities.
• Actively promote and ensure compliance with all safety regulations, standards, and best practices, reflecting our unwavering commitment to safety and care for others.
• Monitor ongoing work to verify that materials, methods, and installations align with safety requirements and approved specifications.

Industry Engagement & Relationships

• Serve as a brand ambassador, representing the company with professionalism, integrity, and ethical leadership in all interactions.
• Build and strengthen relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners, fostering long-term collaboration and trust.
• Cultivate industry connections and stay engaged with market trends, helping position the company as a respected and reliable leader in electrical contracting.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong capability in due diligence and risk assessment, supporting sound decision-making and project integrity.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills that support work in fast-paced, schedule sensitive environments.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical information to diverse audiences.
• Willingness to travel frequently to construction sites to stay engaged, visible, and connected to project teams.

Demonstrated Accomplishments

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, Bluebeam, and Accubid.
• Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings in large or complex project environments.
• Exposure to supporting schedule-driven projects with multiple stakeholders and coordinated workflows.
• Solid understanding of electrical construction in large-scale commercial or mission-critical environments, including data centers.
• Experience building productive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to stay informed of industry and market trends.
• Thorough knowledge of safety standards and best practices in electrical construction.

Education & Experience

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with exposure to larger-scale or more complex commercial or mission critical construction projects
• Experience contributing to projects with defined schedules, multiple phases, or coordination across trades.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent combinations of relevant education, training, and applied project experience will be considered.

Working Conditions

The majority of the time you will work in a typical office environment. Occasionally, you may travel to a construction job site. When on construction job sites you will encounter typical construction conditions including extreme temperatures, noise, dust, mud debris, welding, leading edge, trenching, and shoring, sometimes in a confined space. You may be required to visit multiple locations during any one day.

IME provides an industry-leading comprehensive benefits package. Full-time employees are eligible to choose from a variety of healthcare coverage options, which become effective the first of the month after hire. In addition, employees are offered a substantial amount of PTO and are immediately eligible to make contributions to a generously matched and fully vested 401k.

Salary Range: $74,800 - $101,200

*Final salary and rates are based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity.
