Family Services Coordinator-Families United Program (Laredo, TX)

Position Summary

The Family Services Coordinator is responsible for engaging, supporting, and empowering families of youth and young adults receiving services through SCAN#39;s Families United Program. The Family Services Coordinator serves as liaison between families, treatment providers, schools, and community partners to ensure families are actively involved in treatment planning, recovery support, and ongoing service coordination. The position promotes family-driven, youth-guided, trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented services designed to strengthen family functioning and improve behavioral health outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1) Engage parents, caregivers, and family members as active partners in the treatment and recovery process. 2) Conduct family needs assessments to identify strengths, barriers, and service needs related to behavioral health, education, housing, employment, transportation, and other social determinants of health. 3) Develop individualized family support plans in collaboration with youth, young adults, clinical staff, and family members. 4) Provide care coordination and case management to ensure families have access to behavioral health, medical, educational, vocational, financial, and community resources. 5) Educate families about mental health, substance use disorders, recovery supports, treatment options, crisis resources and available community services. 6) Facilitate family support groups, educational workshops, parenting classes, and family engagement activities designed to strengthen protective factors and promote recovery. 7) Assist families in navigating complex behavioral health, healthcare, educational juvenile justice, child welfare, and social service systems. 8) Coordinate referrals and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, healthcare providers, community organizations, peer support programs, recovery organizations, and other service providers. 9) Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services, referrals, contacts, and outcomes in accordance with agency policies. 10) Support participant engagement and retention efforts, including outreach and follow-up with families to reduce barriers to treatment participation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor#39;s degree in social work, psychology, human services, counseling, public health, family studies, or related field required; master#39;s degree preferred.
• Minimum of one year of experience working with adolescents, young adults, and families in behavioral health, social services, healthcare, education, or community-based programs.
• Experience providing case management, family support services, or care coordination preferred.
• Knowledge of family systems, trauma-informed care, recovery principles, community resources, and youth development.
• Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
• Bilingual (Englis/Spanish)
• Valid TX Driver#39;s license, good driving record, and reliable transportation required.
• Must successfully complete required background checks and other employment requirements.

Salary range: $17/hour-$18.27/hour depending on degree, experience, and qualifications.
