DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position focuses on maintaining and repairing various types of construction equipment, automobiles, and trucks that support transportation services. The work includes diagnostics, repairs, inspections, and record keeping. As a Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:

• Equipment Repair: Restore and overhaul vehicles and equipment by replacing parts, adjusting systems, and diagnosing issues
• Preventative Care: Complete routine maintenance programs to keep engines, hydraulics, cooling systems, and electrical components in good condition
• State Inspections: Conduct assigned safety and emissions inspections and prepare vehicles for compliance while completing required records
• Diagnostic Work: Use tools and testing procedures to identify problems and select proper repair methods and parts
• Work Area Safety: Maintain a clean and safe workspace and report hazards, injuries, or damage immediately
• Field Adjustments: Make minor repairs and adjustments in the field to support safe and efficient operation

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Some travel, overtime, and shift work may be required. Work hours are subject to change based upon seasonal requirements and operational needs.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Successful completion of the commonwealth's Diesel and Construction Equipment Mechanic Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Two years of journey level mechanic experience in the diagnosis and repair of automobiles, heavy trucks, or construction equipment, which includes one year of experience in the diagnosis and repair of diesel vehicles or equipment; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of an active Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License.
• This position requires possession of an active Medical Examiner's Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations on the first day of employment.
• This position requires possession of an active Pennsylvania Class 7 Inspection Mechanic Certification on the first day of employment.
• This position requires possession of an active Tank Vehicle Endorsement (N)within the probationary period.

Additional Requirements:

• Employees may be required to obtain and maintain CDL endorsements and certifications necessary to operate specific pieces of equipment.
• This position is subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
