Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Gunston Animal Hospital Veterinary Externship Gunston Animal Hospital is an AAHA-accredited hospital in the Greater DC area. We are a small animal GP practice offering appointments, soft‑tissue surgery, and dentistry. We are a close‑knit team and we would love for you to extern with us. Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in: Gathering patient histories Performing physical exams Creating treatment plans Diagnostics Dental services Observing, assisting, or performing surgical procedures Medical management of patients Improving communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients Externship length typically ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships are offered to 4th‑year veterinary students. Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
