About the Position
Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: ICU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights, Every Other Weekend Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ ICU experience, including cardiac experience License: NE or compact license - active and in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Willing to float to PCU and Med Surg, as needed. - Experience with IABP. - Experience with Impella. - Experience with CRRT. - Experience with Day 2/Day 3 post-op CABGs. - Peds experience is highly preferred. Description: The unit has a bed size of 10 with an average daily census of 5+. Ratios are 1:1 or 1:2 for lower acuity patients. Common diagnoses include open hearts, CHF, COPD, OD, sepsis, CVAs with TPA, DKA, and some neuro cases. Adults and patients under the age of 8 will be admitted to the ICU. Patients over 8 years of age will be in the PCU or Med Surg unless they require ICU level of care or need to be transferred out. Teamwork is highly valued on this unit. RN will need to float to PCU and Med Surg as needed depending on census. Travelers are first to float. Typically, RNs will be scheduled for 2 weekends (Saturday and Sunday) per month. Schedules may require flexibility based on unit needs. Two extra shifts may be required every 6 weeks. Punctuality is expected. Clock out for lunch. Termination may occur after three call-outs. Shifts are from 0600-1830 or 1800-0630. Scheduling is based on unit needs, with no self-scheduling or blocked scheduling. 1 major and 1 minor holiday off is allowed. Cancellation policy allows a 2-week notice and calling off up to 48 hours per 13 weeks. The charting system used is EPIC.
