The Minnehaha County State's Attorney's Office invites applications for a Paralegal . This position performs paraprofessional legal and administrative support work, including drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, preparing and processing subpoenas, and reviewing and managing tobacco and alcohol sale violations.

How You Will Make an Impact
- Provide paralegal support to attorneys by conducting legal research, drafting, reviewing, filing, and tracking legal documents.
- Manage criminal and civil case files, deadlines, discovery, and court calendars.
- Prepare trial and hearing materials and assist attorneys during proceedings.
- Organize, distribute, track, and redact discovery materials across formats.
- Interview witnesses and victims; prepare summaries; assist with preparation; testify when required.
- Prepare subpoenas, warrants, and interstate documents; coordinate witness logistics.
- Research and document criminal histories for case preparation and sentencing.
- Coordinate with law enforcement, courts, corrections, and victim/witness staff.
- Maintain templates, reference materials, and case-management data; support reporting and grant documentation.

What You Need to Succeed in this Role
Successful completion of a two-year program in paralegal or legal assistant studies and one year of relevant work experience. Comparable combination of education and experience. Must successfully complete pre-employment background process.
Knowledge of legal research and investigation techniques and procedures. Ability to organize and implement complex procedures. Knowledge of and skill in using technology and related software systems. Effective verbal and written communication. Ability to build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with colleagues, other agencies, and the public. Present a professional appearance and communicate with others in a respectful and approachable way. Possess excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task. Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure. Must possess a willingness to learn and exhibit flexibility in a fast-paced environment. Must have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as to work independently. High level of proficiency with Word and Outlook, experience with Excel and PowerPoint.EEO Statement
