Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Benefits Specialist to join our Total Rewards team on a long-term temporary basis. This role is responsible for managing a high volume of employee benefit cases across Health & Welfare and Retirement plans, ensuring accurate and timely resolution of inquiries.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

Case Management & Resolution
  • Manage daily employee benefit inquiries related to:
    • Health & Welfare plans (medical, dental, vision)
    • Retirement plans (401(k), pension, deferred compensation)
  • Research, track, and resolve cases efficiently and accurately
  • Escalate complex or sensitive issues as needed
Benefits Administration
  • Support benefits administration activities and processes
  • Interpret benefit plans and provide accurate guidance to employees
  • Maintain complete and accurate case documentation
Employee Support
  • Respond to employee inquiries with professionalism and a customer-first approach
  • Clearly communicate benefit options, processes, and next steps
  • Ensure timely follow-up to deliver a positive employee experience
Collaboration
  • Partner with team members to reduce backlog and improve turnaround times
  • Collaborate with HR, payroll, and legal teams to support case resolution
  • Assist during peak periods and special initiatives
Systems & Process
  • Utilize HRIS and case management tools (e.g., Dovetail or similar)
  • Adhere to established processes and service standards
  • Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements
Qualifications

Required
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in employee benefits administration
  • Experience supporting Health & Welfare and/or Retirement plans
  • Strong ability to manage high-volume caseloads with accuracy
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems quickly
Preferred
  • Experience with both Health & Welfare and Retirement plans
  • Familiarity with 401(k), pension, or deferred compensation plans
  • Background in HR shared services or benefits operations
  • Experience with case management systems
