Recreation Assistant

Northville Parks and Recreation is looking for a dependable and motivated individual with a passion for serving the community to join our team in the permanent part-time Recreation Assistant position. Under the direction of the Recreation Superintendent, this position supports the day-to-day operations of the department through customer service and administrative responsibilities while also assisting with recreation programs, special events and other department initiatives. Responsibilities include assisting customers in person, by phone and email; processing program registrations and facility rentals; maintaining department records; and supporting staff with programs, events and other projects. The ideal candidate is organized, communicates well, takes initiative and can work both independently and as part of a team. High school diploma or GED required; Preference for previous experience in Recreation, customer service, special events, office administration or a related setting; Strong interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and ability to work effectively in a customer service team environment; Ability to multi-task and prioritize, while functioning in a fast paced (at times) environment; Skill in operating computers including Microsoft Office and other department specific applications to prepare reports, create spreadsheets, utilize databases, etc.; Ability to utilize various office equipment; and First aid, CPR, AED certifications are all desirable. Could include an occasional night or weekend depending on programming.
