Cafe Cook

The job of Cafe Cook is done for the purpose of cooking, baking and preparing food items that meet mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students/staff; verifying quantities and specifications of orders; and maintaining facilities in a safe and sanitary condition.

This job reports to the Cafe Site Manager.

Essential Functions:

• Cleans utensils, equipment, as well as storage, food preparation and serving areas
• Estimates food preparation amounts
• Evaluates prepared food for flavor, appearance and temperature
• Inspects and inventories food items and/or supplies
• Oversees and participates in the preparation, cooking and serving of food and beverage items
• Prepares documentation, (e.g. production sheets, daily reports, inventory logs, equipment order forms, etc.)
• Procures food items, equipment and supplies from warehouse and/or outside vendors
• Serves one or more items of food (selected locations only)
• Stocks food, condiments and supplies
• Assists other personnel as may be required
• Maintains confidentiality of student school lunch eligibility and participates in various activities (e.g. estimate/requisition food quantities, marketing activities, barbeques, picnics, etc.).

Qualifications:

• Criminal justice/fingerprint clearance
• Experience desired
• Ability to read, write and communicate clearly in English

5.5 or 8 hours daily. This is a 10 month School Year position only.
