Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PACU - Post Anesthesia Care Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/28/2026 Duration: 16 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Job Summary Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse at a Level I Trauma Center Located at the organizations facility, this position involves providing high-acuity post-operative recovery care for a diverse surgical patient population, including neurosurgery, ENT, plastics, orthopedics, thoracic, vascular, trauma, and transplant cases. The role requires critical care experience and adherence to safety protocols in a 24/7 environment. Job Details Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Years of Experience: BLS, ACLS, 2 years of critical care experience, experience in an inpatient Level I Trauma Center; 2 years of clinical experience required; valid license in relevant state(s); no minimum experience, however, 2 years preferred. Schedule: Day shift, 12 hours per shift, 36 hours per week, from 07:00 AM to 07:30 PM. Responsibilities include recovery of adult patients with occasional adolescents and geriatrics, managing artificial airways, invasive monitoring (including ICP), transfusions, vasoactive drugs, and working within a high-acuity PACU setting. Required Skills: Epic charting system, management of blood products, ventilated patient care, intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, IV vasopressors, dysrhythmia recognition and management, preoperative assessments, and working across surgical specialties listed above. Additional Information: Critical care experience is essential, with specific focus on post cardiac surgery, lobectomy, trauma, and general recoveries. Night shift clinicians will need to learn preoperative patient workup. The unit operates 24/7 with 38 patient bays and a dedicated transport team. Submission Requirements: Candidates must have a MO or compact license for Missouri or a license in hand for Illinois; no local candidates within 75 miles are accepted. Candidates must meet all compliance deadlines and complete all required modules prior to start.
