Registered Nurse Interventional Radiology

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nurse Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: MO License or compact required Certifications: BCLS, ACLS required Must-Have: Critical care experience; ICU or ED background or procedural background required Ability to work independently Must pass EKG exam for dysrhythmia interpretation and management No visible tattoos; facial piercings must be removed or covered Description: All adult interventional radiology procedures are performed. Nursing staff are responsible for a range of body, vascular, and neuro procedures. Procedures occur Monday through Friday on 4x10 schedules. Call will occur during weeknights and weekends. Nursing staff may be designated to stay past the scheduled shift if procedures are pending. Agency nurses are expected to work every fifth or sixth Saturday as needed. The average daily census is approximately 8 patients per nurse. Nursing duties involve titration of drips and central line insertion. The role includes CT-guided procedures and bone biopsies. Monitoring will be conducted using Philips monitors. The patient population includes both inpatient and outpatient adults. Nurses administer sedation and monitor patients throughout procedures. Collaboration with interdisciplinary support teams is required. The facility treats a wide range of diagnoses and disease processes. Nurses will participate in clinical trials and various interventional procedures. Pre and post-procedure care is part of the nursing responsibilities. Procedural sedation commonly uses Fentanyl and Versed. Ultrasound and fluoroscopic guidance are utilized during procedures. Nurses are expected to maintain high standards of patient care and safety.
