Hourly Student Employment - Certified Pool Operator

ECU Department of Campus Recreation and Wellness is seeking several Certified Pool Operators for the Fall 2026/Spring 2027 academic term. Certified Pool Operators will play an essential role in maintaining the safety and security of all patrons utilizing our aquatic facilities.

Responsibilities:

• Must be able to work weekends and holidays.
• Respond to any and all aquatic chemical emergencies.
• Test for all pool chemicals and adjust accordingly.
• Back wash the pool.
• Demonstrate an understanding of ProMinent chemical system.
• Report and document all chemicals daily.
• Uphold the integrity and reputation of Aquatics at Campus Recreation & Wellness, and East Carolina University by providing exemplary customer service and leadership to students, staff, and patrons.
• Review the employee manual to be able to effectively remedy situations while mentally referencing policies, operations, and situations that adhere to everyday functions within Campus Recreation & Wellness.

Position is considered seasonal employment with varying hours dependent up calendar of activities. Reports to Assistant Director of Facilities and Sr. Assistant Director of Facilities.

GPA Requirement - Minimum of 2.0

Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.) - Qualifications: Current Certified Pool Operator, Aquatic Facility Operator, or comparable certification. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to work indoor and outdoor.

License/certification required
