Maintenance Mechanic

Pridestaff is currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for a well-known, large manufacturing plant. This position is a full-time, temp-to-hire contract with an opportunity to grow. Please see job requirements below to be considered.

Job Summary: We are seeking a reliable and versatile General Maintenance Technician to oversee the upkeep, repair, and preservation of our facility and equipment. In this role, you will diagnose technical issues, perform routine preventative maintenance, and execute minor repairs across several fields, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical and HVAC. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who prioritizes safety and works efficiently to minimize downtime.

  • Routine Inspections: Conduct regular walk-throughs of buildings, grounds, and equipment to proactively identify structural or mechanical issues.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Clean air filters, check fluid or refrigerant levels, lubricate machinery, and replace worn parts according to manufacture specifications.
  • Light Electrical Work: Diagnose and replace faulty light fixtures, ballasts, wall switches, outlets, and basic wiring.
  • Light Plumbing Work: Address minor plumbing leaks, clear clogged drains, and repair or replace faucets, toilets, urinals, and water lines.
  • Equipment Troubleshooting: Inspect, disassemble, and repair basic machinery or material handling systems (e.g., conveyor belts, appliances) using hand and power tools.
  • Work Order Management: Track, prioritize, and update digital or written service requests using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Inventory Control: Monitor, log, and order parts, tools, and maintenance supplies to ensure proper stock for repairs.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to OSHA standards, local building codes, and safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, welding a plus.
  • Tool Proficiency: Mastery of a wide range of standard hand and power tools (e.g., drills, wrenches, saws, multi-meters), welding equipment.
  • Technical Aptitude: Foundational knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic building systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong critical-thinking skills to efficiently diagnose equipment failures and implement functional fixes.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to lift 50 lbs. and more, work on ladders, stand or kneel for extended periods, and navigate tight spaces.

Work Environment: This position involves working both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions. Technicians must be comfortable walking across large facilities, climbing ladders, and wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The role may occasionally require being on-call for emergency repairs during nights or weekends.

Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $24.00 - $26.00 Per Hour
