Support & Stability & Technology Training The Sheet Metal Insulator is responsible for sheet metal installation and associated materials according to specifications and codes. Responsibilities Determine sequence of installations by reading plans and working drawings. Install fiberglass, elastomeric (Armaflex), foam glass, mineral wool, and other insulation materials on HVAC ductwork, chilled water piping, hot water piping, condenser water piping, and mechanical equipment. Perform field take-offs and jobsite material inventories. Engage in the assembly and installation of sheet metal duct work insulation. Work on elevated ground and maintain balance when standing on restricted levels such as beams. Work effectively and precisely while contributing to a solid safety culture. Qualifications 1 year experience insulating mechanical ductwork and piping. Osha 10 or 30. Knowledge of local and state codes. Experience insulating HVAC ductwork, chilled water piping, heating hot water piping, and mechanical equipment. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Good verbal communication skills. Basic competence in sheet‑metal mathematics. Team oriented with the ability to work well and communicate with others. Neat, professional appearance. Physical Demands Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, and various other HVAC equipment. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. This position requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those of medium work. Work Environment This job operates primarily alone on HVAC and boiler equipment in all environments, which includes extreme cold or heat depending on the time of year. Vehicles are used as the base of operations.
