Job Description PURPOSE OF POSITION Under direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Motor Vehicle Operator (Driver) will be utilize a company issued vehicle to transport employees, equipment, supplies and material between work sites across our service area. The Driver will ensure that all engagement with leadership, staff/coworkers, patients, and other stakeholders are professional, courteous and embodies the I-CARE values. Duties & Responsibilities SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Operate company vehicles to make pickups and deliveries in a safe, timely manner
•Perform lifting for loading and unloading of materials and equipment
•Complete pre and post-trip safety and operations checklists and documentation
•Use navigational technology on company issued cellphone to find and follow optimal routes
•Assist with regular vehicle inspections, arranging maintenance when necessary
•Refuel vehicle and ensure it is always ready for use
•Check tires, oil and fuel of the vehicle, and checks vehicle to see that lights, horn and brakes appear to be operating properly.
•Conduct routine vehicle inspections and report any noticeable mechanical defects of the vehicle
•Immediate reporting of any accidents in which the vehicle may have been involved
•Responsible for tools, supplies, material and equipment carried in or on the assigned vehicle
•Maintain log for vehicle mileage, fuel purchases, maintenance schedules, and repairs needed and completed
•Perform driving in all kinds of traffic and weather conditions; bending; lifting and loading small packages up to 50 lbs.; changing tires; sitting for long periods of time; and using hand trucks
•Assist with the setting and up and breaking down of staff event Minimum Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB: CERTIFICATION(S)/LICENSE(S):
•Possess a New York State Driver License appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. Candidates may be required to possess General passenger vehicle license and clean driver's record EQUIPMENT/MACHINES OPERATED:
•Willingness and ability operate basic tools/equipment to conduct routine safety and maintenance upkeep of the vehicle KNOWLEDGEABLE IN:
•Excellent knowledge of the Bronx, Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn
•Some knowledge of vehicle safety maintenance
•Knowledge of relevant equipment and strategies to promote effective operations for the protection of passengers
•Customer Service and interpersonal skills YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
•Experience and training should include possession of the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position
•Minimum of 1-3 years' experience of operating a corporate vehicle in a similar role in NY City Additional Qualifications License Requirements:
1. Candidates must possess a Motor Vehicle Driver's License valid in the State of New York and either "2' or "3" below.
2. For appointment in certain agencies, possession of either a Class 1 or a Class 2 or a Class 3 Motor Vehicles Driver's License, or a combination of these licenses, may be required at the time of appointment.
3. For other agencies which do not require the licenses in "2" above at the time of appointment, possession of either a Class 3 Learner's Permit or a Class 3 Driver's License is required at the time of appointment. In addition, for these agencies, the Class 3 license must be obtained within three months of the date of appointment.
