FEA Engineer

Salary Range : $80,000 - $120,000 USD per year Benefits include medical/dental insurance, basic life/AD&D, long-term and short-term disability, 401(k) plan, educational assistance program, and paid time off. Location: Naval Surface Warfare Center Carderock Division, West Bethesda, MD – full-time, permanent position. Principal Duties & Responsibilities Perform finite element modeling and analysis of naval systems and components. Analyze and evaluate the acoustic behavior of navy vessels and test articles. Design and evaluate acoustic signature mitigation techniques. Produce technical documents and reports. Education & Experience Requirements Minimum Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Advanced degree preferred. 2-3 years of finite element modeling experience desired. Skills & Abilities Requirements Understanding of structural dynamics and vibration. Understanding of acoustic signatures. Ability to perform finite element modeling and analysis. Ability to write automation scripting tools using MATLAB. Familiar with finite element analysis software such as Abaqus. Familiar with finite element mesh generation tools such as HyperMesh. Other Requirements Candidate must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation. Current successful background investigation completion is a plus.
