Position Overview

This opportunity is for a Registered Nurse specializing in the Med/Surg Trauma field. The role involves delivering exceptional patient care to individuals recovering from spinal surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic surgeries, and trauma-related injuries.

Contract Details

• Length of Contract: Preferred contracts of 26-51 weeks; shorter contracts may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• Orientation Dates: 10/05/2026, 10/19/2026, 11/02/2026, 11/16/2026, 11/30/2026 (flexibility may be required).
• Shift: 12-hour shifts, with 36 hours guaranteed per week.
• Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend.
• Holiday Rotation: One holiday may be requested off; additional holidays available.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for patients post-operative spinal surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedic injuries, and trauma.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
• Maintain effective communication with patients and families regarding treatment plans and care instructions.
• Adhere to established clinical protocols and guidelines in patient care.
• Participate in ongoing education and training to remain current with nursing best practices.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of pertinent nursing experience.
• Licensure: Kansas or Multistate Nursing License is required; no hits allowed.
• Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at the time of submission.

Unit Overview

The unit is a 27-bed facility that provides care for patients with varying post-operative conditions including spinal stenosis, compression fractures, neurosurgical interventions, and traumatic injuries. The team is dedicated to ensuring high standards of patient care and promotes a culture of teamwork and safety.

Additional Information

• Charting System: Epic (testing available).
• Staffing Ratios: Approximately 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio.
• Compliance Requirements: Immunity status for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella; documentation for TDaP and Influenza vaccines; TB documentation required.
