Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery (L&D) for a 13-week temporary assignment in New Lenox, Illinois. The L&D RN will provide comprehensive care to women throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period while supporting newborn safety and family education.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery experience and be comfortable working night shifts in a fast-paced birthing center.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate nursing care to laboring and postpartum patients.
• Monitor maternal and fetal status throughout labor and delivery.
• Perform fetal monitoring and recognize changes requiring intervention.
• Administer medications and IV therapies, including Pitocin and magnesium as ordered.
• Care for patients receiving epidurals.
• Assist with vaginal and Cesarean deliveries.
• Serve as C-section circulator/recovery nurse as needed.
• Educate and coach patients and families throughout the childbirth process.

Unit Highlights

• Approximately 200 births per month
• 12 private birthing suites for labor, delivery, and recovery
• 30 private mother-baby suites
• Level II Skilled Newborn Nursery
• 2:1 patient ratio during labor
• 1:1 ratio for delivery or C-section/fetal monitoring, IV magnesium, and C-section circulation/recovery
• 2:1 ratio for epidurals and IV Pitocin

Requirements

• Current, active Illinois RN license at the time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery experience
• BLS certification
• NRP certification
• ACLS certification
• Previous travel/temporary nursing experience preferred
