Disney Streaming is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Billing team. The team is responsible for building and maintaining our Orders, Invoices and Billing systems which must be scaled to handle high‑traffic events like Pay Per Views while also processing the recurring billing cycles for millions of subscribers daily – all while managing the security and reliability of our homegrown systems. As we build out our flexible architecture, the critical contributions of this team will enable our finance/marketing teams to fulfill their vision of growing our subscriber base internationally. Our billing solutions span retail, wholesale and third‑party channels and you will collaborate closely with your peers to deliver a world‑class solution that processes millions of transactions every day. Responsibilities Design high performance and scalable systems and improve system architecture Work closely with product and engineering leadership to spec‑out, design and implement solutions for our partners Write, test and release elegant software systems that are robust and scalable production ready using the latest technologies Demonstrate engineering excellence by developing high performance software, while following an agile development methodology Use a mix of technologies including: Scala, Java, Kafka/Kinesis, DynamoDB and Lambda Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in software engineering Minimum of 2 years of experience programming with at least one of the following languages: Java, Scala or Python Experience working at scale and high RPS throughput Familiarity with SQL Outstanding communication, collaboration skills, and a strong ethic of teamwork Quality‑first demeanor with a focus on test automation and CI/CD Strong analytical skills Preferred Qualifications Experience working with AI tooling such as Claude Code or Cursor Experience with Spinnaker and Kubernetes Experience with gRPC Experience with AWS, Terraform

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $148,700 to $199,400 and in Los Angeles, CA is $141,900 to $190,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long‑term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
