About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Michigan license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, NIH Must-Have: - Emergency department combined adult/pediatric experience required - Charting experience in Epic required Description: Float within service line/scope of practice as needed. Average daily census: 76 patients. Patient age groups include neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Staffing ratios are 1:4-5 on all shifts. Typical chief complaints include chest pain, shortness of breath/respiratory issues, mental health evaluations, OB/GYN emergencies, sepsis, stroke, abdominal pain, sprains/strains/fractures, trauma, and cardiac arrest. Unit details include a 27-bed emergency department in a rural hospital. The facility is a primary stroke center seeking trauma designation. A dedicated room for forensic nursing is available. There are 24/7 board-certified emergency department providers, charge nurses, triage nurses, and house supervisor coverage. There are 2 designated resuscitation rooms and 4 preferred mental health rooms. Required skills include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, starting IVs, continuous IV sedation, and administration of IV vasopressors and procedural sedation. Experience with CVA, neuro-trauma, traumatic brain injury, ortho-trauma, head injury, CPAP/BiPAP, interpretation of arterial blood gases, and caring for ventilated patients is necessary. Travelers are required to float to other units and/or facilities as needed. Every weekend shift is required. Medication system experience required: Pyxis. COVID-19 and flu vaccinations are required, with exemptions allowed for medical or religious reasons.
