Veterinary Technician- Neurology

Overview BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Neurology Veterinary Technician. Pay: $20 - $40 / hour. This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency leveling system. We strive to provide state-of-the-art services to our patients and clients. We are proactive in supporting our technician team to advance their careers. We have specialized technicians in Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, and Emergency/Critical Care. Applicants should have a strong knowledge base, motivation to learn, and ambition to work in a fast-paced team environment. Responsibilities Set up constant rate infusions (CRI). Calculate all medical math including advanced calculations and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.). Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia. Set up for MRI and CT procedures. Discharge neuro patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as manual bladder expression, sling walking, range of motion, etc.; provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values. Perform callbacks and refill medications. Client education, gathering histories and communicating that information to the Clinician. Perform physical examinations; accurately assess heart rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort. Understand normal vital parameters. Comfortable with IV catheter placement and venipuncture. Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and troubleshoot errors. Restrain patients during consults and during diagnostics.
