Job Description

Job Summary:

Performs a wide range of laboratory tests on biological specimens to support patient diagnosis and treatment, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Oversees specimen handling, testing procedures, and quality control to maintain high standards of laboratory operations.

Responsibilities:

• Conducts and interprets a variety of clinical laboratory tests including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, immunology, and blood bank procedures.
• Ensures proper collection, labeling, handling, and storage of specimens following established protocols.
• Evaluates and documents quality control checks, ensuring test validity and accuracy.
• Communicates critical findings promptly to healthcare providers and maintains detailed laboratory records.
• Adheres to all safety, infection control, and confidentiality guidelines, including HIPAA regulations.
• Supervises and trains laboratory assistants, trainees, and clerical staff as needed.

Qualifications:

• Holds a Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological or chemical sciences, or related field.
• Possesses a valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in the state of employment.
• Certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent credentialing agency.
• Demonstrates at least two years of recent laboratory experience, with current BLS certification.
• Experienced with Epic laboratory systems and flexible night shift availability.
