Logistics Operations Specialist

Job Title: Logistics Operations Specialist Work Arrangement: Hybrid – Minimum 3 days onsite per week Schedule: 40 hours per week | Flexible start/end times based on business needs Position Overview We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Logistics Operations Specialist to support critical supply chain, transportation, and logistics operations. This role will coordinate delivery planning, shipment execution, inventory transactions, transportation activities, and operational reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong communication and organizational skills and be comfortable coordinating with manufacturing facilities, transportation providers, warehouses, customers, sales teams, and internal supply chain partners. Key Responsibilities Coordinate delivery planning and execution for customer and intercompany shipments. Manage transportation activities across multiple modes, including rail, truck, barge, pipeline, and intermodal . Execute SAP transactions related to product movements, inventory, goods receipts, and goods issues. Review previous-day shipment activity and proactively develop plans for upcoming shipments. Monitor shipments, identify exceptions, and coordinate timely resolution. Generate operational reports and analyze shipment data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement. Communicate with manufacturing plants, transportation providers, warehouses, third-party storage facilities, customers, and internal stakeholders. Serve as a key point of contact for delivery inquiries, shipment issues, and logistics exceptions. Support inventory management activities, reconciliations, and exception resolution. Maintain accurate shipment, inventory, and transportation information within applicable systems. Develop strong working relationships with internal business partners and external logistics providers. Support process improvement initiatives focused on operational efficiency, service levels, and cost effectiveness. Provide backup support to team members to ensure continuity of daily logistics operations. Maintain a customer-focused approach while balancing competing priorities and operational deadlines. Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide support for shipment and customer inquiries outside normal business hours. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, or a related field , or 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following: Logistics Supply Chain Operations Transportation Coordination Inventory Management Shipping and Receiving Manufacturing or Plant Operations Preferred Qualifications Experience in chemical, polymers, petrochemical, manufacturing, industrial, or related environments . Hands-on SAP experience. Experience coordinating rail, truck, barge, pipeline, or intermodal transportation . Inventory management experience. Experience working in high-volume logistics or supply chain operations. Customer-facing logistics or transportation experience. Process improvement or project implementation experience. Experience preparing or presenting operational metrics and updates to leadership. Experience with Power Automate or workflow automation.
