Job Summary

ASPYRE of Waukegan is seeking a dependable and compassionate Part-Time Dietary Aide to join our dietary team. The Dietary Aide is responsible for assisting with meal preparation, meal service, sanitation, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen and dining environment.

The ideal candidate is reliable, team-oriented, and takes pride in providing courteous service to our residents while following all dietary, food safety, and infection control standards.

• Assist with preparing and serving meals according to planned menus, standardized recipes, and residents' special diet orders.

• Prepare and deliver meal trays, snacks, and food carts to residents and designated areas.

• Provide courteous and attentive meal service to residents in the dining room and on nursing units.

• Prepare bedtime snacks and approved meal substitutions as needed.

• Follow proper food handling, sanitation, and infection control procedures at all times.

• Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and other dietary equipment and ensure they are clean and ready for use.

• Clean and sanitize kitchen, dining, dishwashing, and food preparation areas.

• Sweep and mop floors and complete other routine cleaning duties as assigned.

• Properly operate, clean, and maintain dietary equipment and supplies.

• Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing food and dietary supplies as directed.

• Maintain a safe and organized work environment.

• Report equipment problems, safety hazards, or resident concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

• Work cooperatively with dietary and nursing staff to ensure meals and snacks are delivered accurately and on time.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or supervisor.

• Previous dietary, food service, restaurant, or healthcare experience preferred.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow special diet instructions.

• Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

• Ability to interact with residents in a respectful, patient, and friendly manner.

• Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in accordance with facility requirements.

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform the physical requirements of the position.

• Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of residents, staff, or others in the workplace.
