Candidates must be located in the San Francisco Bay Area and available to work onsite five days per week. SUMMARY OF POSITION: Responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise IT infrastructure alongside proactive management of the organization's information security posture. This position combines hands-on systems administration — servers, networks, storage, and virtualization — with security analysis duties including vulnerability management, threat monitoring, incident response, and compliance support. The ideal candidate is a seasoned IT professional who can operate independently, mentor junior staff, and serve as a technical escalation point for both infrastructure and security matters. Administer, configure, and maintain Windows and/or Linux server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy. Manage virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and associated storage and backup infrastructure. Oversee patch management, system upgrades, and lifecycle replacement of servers, workstations, and network hardware. Monitor system performance and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks or failures. Administer core enterprise applications, directory services, and cloud infrastructure (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS). Provide Tier 3 technical support and serve as an escalation point for complex infrastructure issues. Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) tools, firewalls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems for anomalous activity. Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation with system owners and administrators. Support incident response activities, including detection, containment, eradication, and post-incident review. Develop, review, and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures in alignment with industry frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO 27001). Support internal and external security audits, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance efforts (e.g., HIPAA, PCI-DSS, SOC 2, as applicable). Perform security awareness training and phishing simulation programs for staff. Evaluate and recommend new security tools, technologies, and best practices to strengthen the organization's security posture. Maintain accurate documentation of systems, configurations, security controls, and standard operating procedures. Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior systems administrators and IT support staff. Participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours system and security incidents.
