Job Description Montgomery College has an immediate need for Grounds MaintenanceSupervisor on the Germantown campus. This is a first shiftsupervisor position from 6:00am – 2:30pm Monday through Friday.This is a non-bargaining, Exempt, grade 25 position. In the event that College operations aresuspended, employees in essential roles may be required to reportto work at their normal scheduled time or to report to analternative work location as directed Duties include but are not limited to: Essential Functions Provide leadership and guidance to assigned staff engaged ingrounds maintenance and operations. Schedule, assign, inspect and review work of assigned staff toensure work is performed according to established standards. Review and approve timesheets; make corrections as needed. Conduct performance evaluations, formal and informal coachingand recommend disciplinary action. Conduct recruitment/interviewing and make recommendations tohire. Inspect equipment on a daily basis to ensure equipment andtools are functional and safe for use. Inspect campus grounds throughout the day to ensure cleanlinessand a safe work and learning environment. Budget, Purchase and Order equipment, parts, chemicals,fertilizers, tools, flowers, shrubs, and rental equipment. Provide support for all campus activities such as meetings,celebrations, student activities, athletic events andcommencement. Ensure all employees/contractors are informed and kept updatedon events on campus. Monitor the grounds crew in emergency management techniques ofevacuation during emergencies. Familiar with stormwater and snowremoval management. Ensure all work tickets are completed in a timely fashion. Ensure all personnel are trained properly for the equipmentbeing utilized. Provide guidance and assistance to personnel and ensure propertools are utilized effectively and efficiently. Create, track, and complete work orders using work orderdatabase. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or G.E.D., and/or any combination ofeducation, training and experience providing understanding of thefield, and the ability to perform the duties of the job. Trainingin Maryland/EPA guidelines for use of lawn care chemicals. Six years of experience supervising grounds/landscape personnelin an educational, large commercial, or similar environment.Experience operating large pieces of snow removal equipment andgrounds equipment such as weed eaters and street sweeper equipment.Knowledge of or experience working in a union environment ispreferred. The equivalent combination of education, training,certification and/or experience that provides the requiredknowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of thejob may be considered. Hiring Range: $61,384 - $79,776 hourly. Initial salary placementfor new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the rangeand is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity.The maximum salary for this position is $98,168. For degrees earned outside of the U.S., a copy of your educationequivalency, conducted by a nationally recognized evaluationservice, must be included in your application.
