Job Title

Registered Nurse – Step Down Unit (IMC/PCU/Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 13 Weeks | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 16-bed Step Down Unit managing a diverse cardiac and complex medical patient population including post-cath/stent/intervention patients, CIWA/BH, Sepsis, DKA, CVA, GI bleeds, and post-surgical cases
• Perform telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG interpretation ; initiate and titrate drips including antiarrhythmics, Heparin, and Insulin
• Conduct NIHSS/neurological assessments and dysphagia screenings
• Float within skillset as first to float; cross-campus float to nearby facilities possible with a minimum 2-hour notice provided
• Adhere to weekend and holiday rotation requirements: three weekends per six-week schedule and every other holiday
• May be required to precept students and new hires in this teaching facility environment

Required Qualifications

• Current, active multistate compact RN license
• AHA BLS , AHA ACLS , and NIHSS certification required — must be submitted at time of application
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 full year of Step Down experience
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required; Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (checkoff class will be required upon start)
• Must live at least 40 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with stable home vents, PleurX/pericardial drains, lumbar drains, and VP shunts
• Familiarity with Narcan drip management
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage change effectively
• Collaborative, resilient, and team-oriented work style
